Default Bad prognosis for 2007 with low miles

I have a 2007 SX4 that has only 31K miles on it. It was our dump run, snow car for all these years.
I have put rotors on it many times. If I go two weeks without driving it the rotors rust up bad and won't get cleaned up with the brake pads.
So after leaving it at the airport shuttle for three weeks the drive home was horrific. It sounds like the thing is going to fall apart, the steering wheel shakes.
Took it to the mechanic and he said not only are the rear rotors rusted badly again but so is the U joint, the muffler and catalytic converter.
And after speaking with the former Suzuki dealer in town he was told if they could find the parts it would be about $4500 but turns out the parts are no longer available.
I thought car companies were required to make parts for a certain time after leaving the market.
He said he had no luck with salvage yards either.
Two questions:
1. With only 31K (garaged) miles how can this car be such a rust bucket, at least underneath, the body looks great?
2. What should I do, sell it for parts on eBay, send it to auction, etc?
Thanks

Cool

Whatever it takes..... to be rid of it. Do what you have to do.
That car was never meant to just SIT.
I worked the Sh** out of mine and she never had any real problems in 40k miles. But I also maintained the heck out of it.

I read the handwriting on the wall, so to speak, when I learned my Suzuki Dealer was closing up shop, and Suzuki USA was also closing up shop.

I saw no future in driving a car that complicated without local service.
It was a great little car, (we had a lot of fun together) but now it's someone else's problem.

good luck,
Shadow

Junk it or you will get an ulcer. The car is worth $2300. You will be paying half of it in repairs then after every month something new may have to be fixed. And Suzuki has increased part sales and its driving me nuts. I feel like I own a bmw.
Your genuine Cat is Avail but its costs $1000 dealer price.
