Default Garmin Infotainment connectors

hello I purchased an Garmin Infotainment from Ebay, for the fun of it i put it into my grand Vitara 2006 since it has the same connector, to my surprise, it works

The steering controls works, i managed to suscribe to suzuki / garmin and downloaded the latest os update 3.9 a 100meg file, put an sd card with the 2017.1 maps ... everything works like a charm.

I did manage to find the antenna adapter, and the gps adapter cables.

I have a few connectors on the rear of the radio i dont know the use for, a green one (i suspect rear camera), a bright white ( ??? ) and a daker white (???) and finally a brown one.

I need to know if the Sx4 2012 2013 ... has the usb connector and where it goes, if some one could tell me it would help me a lot. Im trying to find a damaged or scrapped car to check those connector with no luck.

Default Garmin Infotainment Infos

Taken from, and translated form Russian and Chineese web sites.

Suzuki Head Unit: Made by Fuji and maybe Clarion
Part Number: 006-B1468-00 --> year 2012
Part Number: 006-J0196-13 --> year 2013
SoftwareVersion: 2.60
Description: Mawson
System: Garmin OS

Installed in : Suzuki Grand Vitara FL 2012-2013 and some Sx-4 2012-2013 and S-Cross

DVD/AUX/USB/SD/BlueTooth and voice command capable.

The latest Firmware is : 3.9 +/- 105megs

OPTION 1

You have to go : www.garmin.com/suzuki, install the active X pluggin, (WONT WORK ON WIN 10) register your device with an generated GarminDevice.xml by searching : Browse all available products for your navigation device. It will download the file to your SD card directly.

By doing this : in Settings> System> Information> pushing Upgrade will generate the XML file on the SD card.

Option 2 direct links

https://static.garmincdn.com/autoOem/suzuki/software/3.9/NA/GUPDATE.GCD

Change the /3.9/ section to 2.8, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7 and 3.9
Change the /NA/ (North American) for /EU/ (Europe) or /RU/ (Russian)

For the upgrade :

1: Copy the firmware file (GUPDATE.GCD) to the root of SD card.

2: Insert the SD card (class 10 or more will help the speed).

3: We hold three buttons on top of the volume control for a long time about 35-40 seconds and the screen should turn on and off several times. Then you should see a message LOADING SOFTWARE ... WAIT at least 10 minutes.

Warning : it seems passed the version 3.6 you lose some traffic options ?? AND YOU CAN'T go back to an earlier version without risking "bricking the device"

EDIT : Apparently you can force and firmware downgrade ?? never tried that

For the 4 connectors pinouts to come ... or what i can find.

green rear camera interface (5 pins, the center one is the video in , 75 ohm impedance)
brown usb cable interface (4 pins, +5v, ground, D- and D+)
gray supposed to be the Suzuki VICS interface (5 pins ???)
white rear camera, triggered by the transmission in reverse + 12 vdc in ??? (8 pins)

On Ebay you can find an antenna adapter and the gps antenna adapter

FOR THE MAPS : i simply created an Garmin folder on the SD card root and put the map IMG file there, never tested with the asr, poi, and jcv files ???

\Garmin\ "map file here"
\Garmin\ASR
\Garmin\JCV
\Garmin\POI

WARNING : NOT TESTED
After installing Garmin usb devices drivers, there's been some cases you could connect the radio thru the usb connector and see the content of the files and structure, BUT DO NOT let Garmin software do any upgrades or changes, just manually overwrite the files ???

thats it for now

hello

As a follow up

You can downgrade to an earlier version, simply put the gupdate.gcd file in the Garmin folder on SD-card, press the voice button and the left up screen corner when powering up, hold the two buttons until you see the firmware/software message and let it go all the way 5-10 minutes.

You can update the radio content to push new maps etc ... you go thru the hidden menu section, test pages section, usb mode, select media storage, you must be connected with windows xp or windows 7 with the usb drivers (USBDrivers_2311.exe) installed. You must have the proper usb cable connected to the radio too.

I updated the maps to the 2017.10 version with no problems, you have about 7 gigs of space available.

I have also collected all the 3.9 firmwares available (NA, RU, IN, EU) and extracted all the voices and languages and put them in the right place in the radio.

For the reverse camera, i did salvage the green connector from honda cr-v and other suzuki cars, made the right connections.

BUT you have to use the white connector too for the reverse signal (12v) detection, if not the radio wont switch to the video camera input.

The clarion cca644 cable is okay, but you need an extra command input pinout.

Can you tell/show me what you did for the Clarion cable? Did you have to splice it into the unused pin? I want to make sure it works before buying the expensive cable

The camera must be connected, i think there is a load detection from the radio, since the video in is 75ohms impedance.

Installed 2017.10 full North America maps (2.5gigs) into the radio with success, with all the languages and voices available, jcv, asr, etc .... thru the usb connector in mass storage mode.

Thanks for you help. What do you do with the blue wire if you did not use it and where abouts under the dash did you stick the GPS aerial?
