Hi All

I have just bought a SX4 Original Towbar from my local wreckers yard , however had a look underneath and cannot see the obvious fitting area , from a bit of googling I can see i need to maybe remove bumper and fit there somewhere . also cut a square hole in Bumper after

Does anyone know exactly how to fit a original Sx4 Towbar . have any Instructions in a Link or a PDF or can walk me through it ..

2007 SX4 - 1995cc engine , Hatchback

Thanks In advance

HI LMP

Thanks for that link , I had a look but think thats for the 2012 Hitch or car , I have a 2007 model and the Hitch is a OEM version that will go through the Bumper , I will have to cut a square hole through the bumper .

Since posting I have worked out a bit but more info still needed .

I took off bumper , removed the metal bars behind bumper , then bolted to the 3 studs each side where metal bars were bolted onto.
there is 2 bolts in lower centre , and must be 2 bolts either side go's into the chassis - but no holes there ,
I think from Googling i have to drill holes from the boot space and drop the bolts down through the floor that then bolts through chassis to the plates on the Hitch..

Last cut hole through Bumper .

But if anyone knows the correct way to do this - or the Exact dimensions or a template to cut the bumper - please let me know
Thanks Mark ''

Hi .

..I have seen photos of that model with hole in the bumper...but have not been able yet to find it.
Maybe YOU can document that...a few pictures....my wife's 2011 would probably be same as yours.....due to have one soon....
Your 2007 (either with 4 speed AUto or manuL) is OK for pulling light trailers...even heavy as shown on several threads.

However with the 2010 and on CVT....I will stay with very lights loads. THe CVT is already "torque limited" by the computer and to me it indicates a very small load safety margin.

Since you did not put your location in your control panel, we have no idea what country you're in. It makes a big difference.

In the US, Suzuki discouraged the use of a trailer hitch (not called a tow bar here) but, in Australia, the hitches can be installed by the dealer and they do go through the rear bumper.

In the car's frame there is already a hole drilled for the attachment of a Trailer Hitch, but the hole is too small for the bolt that comes with a hitch, so I had to enlarge that hole to 9/16" and then cut a 1.25" hole in the frame, just to the front of that hole to feed the bolt up through and drop it down through the 9/16" hole for mounting the hitch. That was all detailed in another thread.

This is the US hitch, which came from U-Haul, probably made my "Curt".
It comes out from UNDER the rear bumper.

I used to have a picture of the Aussi Hitch, that comes out through a hole in the rear bumper, but that seems to have been deleted. Sorry!

Good Luck!
