Red face 1995 Vitara fuel problem?

Hi All - I inherited this 5-door Vitara from my dad (rip). It sits in my field all year and is used for general moving stuff. Always started first time from a jump-start (battery dead). However, recently after not using it for some months, it wouldn't start - it fires once then nothing. Any suggestions? - thanks KVB.

You may have bad fuel or corroded tank/fuel delivery pipes from sitting too long. Will it run using starter fluid?

Old petrol/gas in the tank and fuel lines can turn to varnish fairly quickly. As Ranger suggests, try starting it up with starter fluid and see if you can get it to run that way. If you can, then you know that your issue is on the fuel side of ignition.
