Default New York 2010: Suzuki Kizashi Sport Model Announced, With Debut Set for NY Auto Show

Suzuki has released full details and images of its new Kizashi Sport model ahead of the carís debut at the New York Auto Show. The new mid-size sedan from the Japanese automaker is already quite handsome, but in Sport trim itís a real looker.

Sport models get a new front fascia with chrome accents and a lower grille, as well as side skirts with chrome accenting, a trunk lip spoiler and special light-weight 18-inch wheels. Those wheels with some lower profile rubber should help improve handling on an already dynamic platform, as will a 10mm lower ride height. Interior updates include a new sport steering wheel and a black leather interior with contrasting stitching on the leather seats, shifter and e-brake handle.

What isnít included in the new package is a more powerful V6 engine, which was rumored to be unveiled at the New York show. Still, with 185-hp already, the 4-cylinder is enough to get by on.

The new Sport package will be available on GTS and SLS trim levels starting in August. No pricing has been released, but we can expect a few thousand extra on top of the base price. Currently, a top-level SLS model ranges from $24,499 for a front-drive setup with a manual transmission to $26,899 for an all-wheel drive setup with a CVT transmission.

Weíll be sure to bring you more on the car, as well as live photos, when Suzuki unwraps the new Sport package at the New York Auto Show later today.

Default Kizashi Sport May Be Moot!

Suzuki has not even mentioned the Kizashi Sport (or it's debut in NYC) to it's dealers.
Within Suzuki Motor Dealership circles, there are almost daily rumors that Suzuki Motor is poised to withdraw from the American market by the end of 2010. This would explain Suzuki's refusal to back the Kizashi with regional and national advertising. It also explains why dealers are unable to get allotments of Kizashis or fill special orders from customers with cash in their hands.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the Kizashi Sport.

He did not mention which country it would be available in...!
