Question Chain driven or Cambelt? 2012 Suzuki Kizashi GLXC 2.4

Hi,

Is the 2012 Suzuki Kizashi GLXC 2.4 litres chain driven or cambelt?

Not sure if this model comes in a manual gearbox version but it's an automatic - i.e. no clutch pedal, just the two pedals: brake and accelerator... Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but I don't know much about cars

I have looked all over the Internet, can't find the answer sorry. Please help

Where in the world are you?
It should be a J24B chain driven cam engine, but it all depends on where it was designed for and the market it was sold in.
Sounds like its the slushmatic CVT model, not made in a manual version in the GLXC spec.

In New Zealand of all places. It's a new Zealand new car meaning that it wasn't imported into New Zealand (from Japan etc.).

The instruments and radio etc are also all in English - might sound weird but most cars in NZ are imported and a lot have non-English writing on the cars instruments and radio etc.

I've just learnt that because it's a 2012 year model surely it must be chain (and not belt)

But I guess it could be dangerous to assume based solely on the year

yes, all cars are imported into NZ, we haven't had an on shore manufacturing plant in years. I think Toyota in Christchurch was one of the last in the South island.
You are referring to the "Japanese" imports, all the nz new cars still have all controls and functions in english.

take a pic of the front of the engine, if its a belt there will be a plastic cover over it, if its a J24B there will not be a plastic cover down the front of the engine behind the serpentine belt.
