Default Sub Woofer Rattling

I have a 2011 Suzuki Kizashi.

Suddenly the sub woofer started making a rattling noise.
I was told that it cannot be fixed. It needs to be replaced and is a 2 hour job.
The Audio people are going to get back to me after they look into it and let me know what I can replace it with - and the cost.

I am also getting a second opinion from the Mitsubishi dealership near me.

Has anyone had to do this?
What were the costs associated? (labor and sub woofer)
What kind did you replace it with?

If you're in the Vancouver BC area - where would you recommend taking my car to?

Thanks!

Default

I assume you've got the Rockford Fosgate system? It's an 8" dual voice coil subwoofer (ie. has four wires instead of the normal two for the speaker coil) and I have heard of at least one other person having it fail.

Default it's the voice coil cover

my 2010 did the same thing; the problem was the center cover had come unglued from the speaker cone. removed the loose cover, problem solved. 2 years ago.
