Default buy or pass?

Hey I am looking at getting a 2011 suzuki kizashi sls sport. These cars are hard to find and the one I found is a good price but has 72,000 miles on it which I think is alot for a 3 year old car. Would you guys wait and get one with less miles or go ahead and take a chance with this one? Thanks

Hi, welcome.

Is there any warranty left on it?

You may have already found this, but if you haven't have a read regarding buying a Kizashi in the USA/ Canada : https://www.suzuki-forums.com/suzuki-...i-sls-but.html

There doesn't appear to be much that goes wrong with them - apart from a lot of complaints about the CVT operation/ characteristics (and the odd CVT total failure.) Something to keep in mind if you're looking at the CVT.

There's another Kizashi forum here Kizashi Club - Index page but keep in mind some people might be very biased with any advice.

It does the warranty is for 100, 000 miles but with 72,000 its almost there. Who ever owned it drove it alot and thats what worrys me. It is a cvt transmission also. Idk I just want opinions on it and if you guys would buy it based of the high mileage. I own a 06 forenza and 07 sx4 hatchback. Do you like your kizashi?

Yes, I like my Kizashi - but it's got the manual transmission. I hate autos in general and don't think I'd buy a CVT at all. There seem to be a lot of issues with them across all vehicle brands.

However, plenty of people own the CVT Kizashi models and don't have any mechanical problems. There are idiosyncrasies with that type of transmission (eg. vibrations/ rumbling noises) which means don't expect it to sound or behave like a traditional auto. A few people have had serious CVT troubles and there never seems to be any explanation as to what exactly caused the failure. It would be different if the finger could be pointed at a particular part, poor maintenance or the vehicle being thrashed relentlessly.

(I don't want to put you off, but it's better for you to be well aware of any potential future problems.)

The only other issue (that is of a serious nature) is the rear shocks can be prone to premature failure due to water leaking past the bump stops onto the shock's chromed piston (causing rust and shock failure). There is a TSB in the USA regarding it and a revised bump stop design has been released. I don't think Suzuki have actually been doing a recall and pro actively changing the part.

As long as the chassis condition seems like that for a lower mileage car (ie one that has a lot of highway miles but relatively little wear otherwise), I'd take it if you can get it for a good deal. I haven't seen too many 100k+ Kizashis out there, but I know of one that is going strong even with regular beating. (not ours!)
