Default Transmission Help

I recently started having problems with the shifting on my 1987 samurai. The shifting gets hard after I run it for a bit. If I turn it off when this happens I have no problem putting it in gear. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Israel

How old is your clutch cable? Old ones tend to get more slack inside the cable sleeve when hot. The usual recommendation when replacing the cable is to get an OEM one, or at least one that has the metal bracket that attaches to the firewall. Those with a plastic bracket don't tend to last as long, but are inexpensive.

Also if you are missing any ground wires between the battery and that body/frame, the ground will pass through the clutch cable causing it to get hot.

By hard shifting, do you mean it will not go into gear or the gears grind when changing gears?

Have you adjusted your clutch lately? It sounds like it might need it.
