Default Need some trans help for samurai

Have a five speed trans that is locked in 2nd gear or third gear. Trans has 4000 miles on it . What happen was is was making a uturn on a highway and not make it and a car was coming so I was in hurry when put it in reverse and back into forward gear and now it locked in gear. I know there is a pin on shifter fork that can break but that is still there. Don't know how long it is suppose to be but don't think it broke. We use to have 560 IH tractor that would lock in gear if in hurry also. All we had to do is take shifter off and stick screw driver down and line it up again so shifter fork could do its job again. Can I do the same thing for this problem. If this is a problem that is going to be ongoing is there a fix for it ? Who would make a trans that does not do this or who would be best to send it to to have it redone or exchanged. I have a spare that came with samurai but not know if it good or not. Im from Mn and met a guy in Wy in the town were we have motel and some rentals that was from California that does lots of off road racing and builds for others and he said he could make the trans more bullet proof. I cant find card he gave me but I think his first name was Jeff. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
