Default Help id my samurai!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I have a Samurai or maybe a Sierra in the Caribbean right now. I will be moving back the the USA in about 6 months and want to bring the jeep with me. The only #'s I can find on the jeep are the chassis # and engine #. I have looked high and low for a vin and there is none, it is not even printed on the metal plate in the engine compartment, just the other 2 #'s and some misc #'s. It is looking to be a pain to get it into the US because of all the safety standards and such so I am trying to find out as much about it as I can.

Anyone heard of the SJ70? That is apparently what it is

On mine sold in the USA it's right by the drivers left foot there's a plate on the panel between the firewall and the door jamb.

Mine was never sold in the US is the problem. I have looked on the doors, on the dash, on the side of the dash, by the front speakers. The only plate I have is under the hood with a chassis # and engine #. From what I understand the Chassis is the VIN except in the states the VIN is 17 letters/#s long and mine is not. If I could figure out how to post a picture I would show you the plate but it keeps asking for a http address when I try to post one

If the vehicle was not built for the US market it will not have a 17 character "US style" VIN - that is a US market requirement., and only found on vehicles intended for the US.

For all other countries the chassis number on the plate under the hood is all the ID you'll ever find - you should find the same number on the frame, probably on the driver's side frame rail near the front wheel.

I checked chassis with the # on the plate, they match up as well as the engine # and plate.

This is the deal. I am studying in the Caribbean right now, bought this little right hand drive Samurai, put a lift on it myself, custom lights etc. Yes I know I can get a good Sami in the states but would love to bring this one back with me (right hand drive and all) and I get attached to vehicles when I do all the work to them. Vehicles here sit outside and rust (the island is 15X5 miles) so you can imagine what the salt air does to them. No garages here either. Believe it or not the Samurai is not on the list of OK vehicles to import into the US so I have to apparently go through some company to try to get it in. All the reading I have done says that if I can get safety standards from the manufacturer showing they are up to par with the US standards for that old of a vehicle it makes it much easier. With just a Chassis # I have been unsuccessful in tracking it through any VIN ID sites. This is my problem, and the companies that are supposed to help get them in are seriously lacking in the customer support department so if anyone has any advice on that situation I would be glad to hear it as well as tracking the information on this vehicle. I order all my parts for it from the US and everything fits so I would imagine the safety ratings are all the same, the only difference from mine and one sold in the US is the right hand drive.

Does that help explain my situation? Ill answer any questions I can.

As to photos: get a Photo bucket account.
As to the rig: I'm pretty sure this is a lost cause. You can ship it to the USA , but I don't think you will ever get it registered in the US.

Default Samurai/Sierra help PLEASE

Hey guys thanks for reading. First off I want to say I hate to bring this up on here and ask the favor but I am limited to what I can do. I actually live on a Caribbean island right now, I own a right hand drive Samurai (so it says on the side of the jeep) yet who knows if this plastic marker is stock or not. I understand yall called them the Sierra. Anyways I want to take it back to the USA with me when I go but that is proving to be retarded ridiculous to do. They manufacturer said it was never produced to meet the US E33 and homologation standards (I have no idea what that means) for the US market. Anyways my question is this, the only way I could contact a Suzuki dealer there is by email and I could not find an address for one of them. Could someone see if they can run my chassis # to tell me more about the jeep. I believe it is a 92. I had it run on the island and all the information for the chassis # was incorrect (said it was LHD, blue it's white although this is the only part that might be right because I can see blue under chips of white paint, and incorrect engine #). When I look under the hood the stock suzuki blue metal plate and all the #'s on the jeep match up. Can anyone help?

Hopefully yall can see pics there, it would be a shame to have to leave this and have it destroyed by the people and weather here. You can already see the poor shape it is in

I have used them, I sent an email to England but the problem is if there is no email address I have no way to contact them. The reason I posted here is because it looks as though the SJ70 was sold to Australia so I figured it might be a good place to try too. The dealers I found in Australia had phone #'s which I have no way of calling. Ill do more searching and see what I can find. Thanks for the info
