Cool Samurai engine swap help!!

I have an 86 samurai which i bought 2 monts ago. A mechanic checked out the engine and said it needed to be rebuild, the only issue is that i don't count on a big budget (about $450-500) . A friend of mine told me that maybe an engine swap could be done for about the same amount of money and add more power but i don't know much about engines so maybe you could help me here.
I would like to know what engines (4 cyl) are easier to swap(if possible keeping the same transmision & transfer case.
If possible, what modiffications need to be done?
And last, how much would it cost?
Thanks

You can probably find a tracker/sidekick motor for a few hundred dollars, but unless you plan on doing all the fabrication and install yourself, you'll probably need more than $500

You might be able to rebuild it and have it bored over. Itll come down to the price of the machine shop. If you need help with parts or websites just ask.
