Default Hot Idle

Hello to everyone,

This is my first post on this forum, I have a 1988 Zook Sierra named Gertrude. Stock.

Currently been trying to get her running right, so far Ive changed a gear box and installed a carb kit, oh and pulled out a few meters of appalling wiring.

So the carb kit has gone in and the engine was sounding happy for once.

As soon as the engine gets hot though the idle stays above 2000 RPM, very confused whats happening here? Any ideas? Anybody experienced this?

Thanks in advance

ARJ

What type of carb kit? What is the RPM at start up. Can you just turn idle screw out once it is warrmed up to 800-850 rpm? Which choke do you have? electric, manual or water?

Those things may help others help you.

Is the Carb Kit. I installed it with a trained mechanic so im pretty sure it went in correctly.

The idle screw and the mixture control were adjusted accordingly, the engine was idling beautifully, but when it gets to temp it decides to shoot up.

Its a coolant operated auto choke.

Cheers

OK, when you wrote carb kit I thought you installed an aftermarket carb. You did a rebuild of sorts. once warm the idle goes up still makes me think it has something to do with the water choke.
