Exclamation Samurai front end issue

Had my 1988 samurai lifted up today to see if the front wheels were spinning in 4x4 (4Hi and 4Lo). The result, a slight hesitant rotation. There was no noise or vibration just it wasn't spinning consistently.

Could somebody please give me their input as to whats the issue here?!

THANKS!

With no locker or load on one side it might be just switching from side to side as it spins. The front hubs also might not be locking in if they don'y move in and out easily to engauge.

Yup.
Pull apart the hubs and clean them up (then regrease).
You have to make sure they are locking into place.

With both front tires off the ground (and the motor turned OFF, trans and t-case in gear), lock both hubs and spin one of the with your hands. Watch the other side and it should turn the opposite direction.
