How much work are you willing to do?

There are some factory turbo toyota 4cyl (22r variant I think). Theres adding a turbo to a 1.6L 16v tracker/sidekick mill, Maybe a 2.3 from a XR4Ti or Tbird super coupe, that would be a bit of work though.

People have fitted V8's in Samurai's - you can fit just about anything including, according to this:
you can even get a small block V8 in there.

There are aftermarket turbocharged Suzuki 1.3's out there that might suit you, or you can swap in a 1.5, 1.6, or even 1.8 "G" series block fairly easily (depends where you live which of those you can get your hands on).

I don't know how easy it is to swap in an "M" series suzuki engine, but they turbo the swift all the time for rallying etc.

Bear in mind that the suzuki blocks are some of the lightest engines you can get (they put them in microlight aircraft for a reason) and dropping in a heavier block is going to have a large negative effect on handling, especially offroad - so perhaps a good question is this:

What do you want to do with the car?
