Default New to Sami world, whats the red light?

Hello
I just found this forum and it looks very good. I just got an 87' Sami a couple of weeks ago. It is stock, even has the original jack under the hood. It has been around the rough roads a little but not to bad. Has 70,000 miles on it. First thing I had to do is replace a rear wheel bearing and seal. Did the brakes to, replaced the top and a whole new exhaust, Magna flow which I like has a great sound now. What I am trying to figure out is what the real little red light that sticks out on the middle of the dash is, it flashes when I switch the switch next to the dimmer switch for the dash lights. Thanks!

Does anyone have an owners manual for and 87' Samurai? If so would you please check to see what the little switch just left of the steering column is for, when I switch it the little red lite on the dash flashes. THANKS!

That switch is what would make it easy for Suzuki mechanics when you brought the vehicle in for service.
The light is set to turn on at certain mileage intervals, telling you to take it in and pay for what really turned out to be a $350 oil change. After the mechanic was done, he/she would reach under the dash and flip the switch. Light goes out until the next service interval unless a real problem popped up before then.
It was not intended for the owner/operator.

Thank you Bill that clears it up. I appreciate it, I have never seen one of these before. The switch on mine is actually on the front of the dash, not under or behind it but it must be the same thing. Thanks again.
