Default Newbie question, but my Sam froze up on the rear wheels

while driving. It's a 1988. About 5 mins before coming to a screeching hault from 15 mph, there was a nasty smell almost like a burning smell from a rear brake pad or something. The emergency brake light had always been on for the past couple weeks as well. Is it possible that the brake just welded itself frozen?
Is there an easy fix?
Can someone help this newbie out. Thanks!

The quickest way is to remove wheels, brakedrums and check to see what the problem is. If the E-Brake light has been on for two weeks chances are the brakes have been dragging for two weeks. If the brakes have been dragging, your probably going to have a lip on the drums to deal with. Gonna have to adjust the shoes all the way down to get the drums off. Good luck
