Default please help

samurai has been running great...checked the air filter today...did not clamp it good coming from the carb side...everything good then mash the clutch in to turn and engine just shuts off...will not idle...found the breather clamp loose ...tightened and it cranked right up but it had been sitting for an hour...barely made it out of parking lot and it died again...runs great otherwise...t has always started up at about 2000 rpm and after aprox. 10 mins comes down to 8 or 900 rpm...any ideas?

I think the main problem was with deciphering your post. What exactly is the problem? It started dieng after you checked your air filter? Didn't have any problems before you checked the air filter? I myself thought you probably just went over what you did to remove the filter and figured out what you didn't put back correctly.

If you're still trying to figure out why it doesn't run anymore, then go over the vacuum hose diagrams on ACKS faq and trace every single hose to make sure they're hooked up to the right ports and the one way valves are all going the right direction. All it takes is for one of those hoses to be off or routed incorrectly. Common hose that gets forgotten when the carb hat is taken off: The hose to the HIC valve.

If all of that doesn't work, check back

Some of the people that can help you are not in the same time zone or the same country as you. People on this site will help but you have to give them time to answer your post. I have placed post and took two days. They have job's and they are not on this site 24/7. So give them some time and help will come!

so your concern was the Idle speed and not the vehicle dying on you in the parkinglot? because a warm idle between 800 and 1000 rpm is in the "normal" range. Cold idle is usually right around 2000 rpm on startup. If you can't idle at 800 rpm without it dieing on you then you have something other than the idle speed wrong. Bumping the idle up is a bandaid to fix the problem of why it doesn't have a stable idle at 800 rpm.

agreed...cold start idle is now way too high 2500...when warm does drop to 1000...got some kind of intermittent deal seems to idle itself higher even when warm...just wondering why everything seemed good...it was a little low idle before but wasn't dying then all of the sudden dying...raised idle(too much) I think...Baratacus I really appreciate your help and was going to pm you because i had seen some of your other post...and trusted your judgement...the truth of the matter is...this is pretty much all I have to drive now because of some life circumstances...and i just don't have the extra income to put into it...just trying to get by but this is a nice Sami...if i can get the little bugs out....Thank you again!
