Default Mystery switch

In my 1989 Samurai there is a switch under the drivers side dash with a red, white and blue wire that connects to the instrument gauges. What is it for, does anyone know?

I was told that it is used to turn off the check engine light when it "reminds" you that the EGR valve is due for service, approx every 60k mi.

canada its a check enine switch. US it's just a service reminder reset. You flip it when the engine light comes on every 60K miles. Reminds you to do the timing belt, o2 sensor, and other long term scheduled maintenance.
