Default Diff question

I want to change the ring and pinions in my sammy

I read the X90's have 4.625 diffs, do they fit sammys?

And why cant sidekick rears be used?

Cheers
Mof

you can use sidekick gears, you just have to get two front sidkick sets, since the rears won't fit in the samurai case. It's not recommended you swap the whole case out since the sidekick uses an aluminum case and it's not as strong as the samurai case.

Thanks Baratacus

Do you know about the x90 diffs?
And does the kick have 2 or 4 pinion front?
Cheers

Bought a smashed Kick, pulled out diff, its a 5.125 dammit
Oh well at least ive now got a G16 loom.

Does anyone know which year Sammys had 3.73 diffs, and which had 3.91 diffs?
I have a spec sheet with "SJ413" as 3.73
and "SJ413 Samurai" as 3.91, but it does not state what years these were.
And the only other difference I can see is the 5th gear is different.
Does this mean the "SJ413 Samurai" is slower 1st-4th?

Soon my head will explode

The X-90 can be considered a targa topped sports car body on a two door SideKick frame - the running gear is almost identical.

Ok how about the 1998 onward Jimnys?
Do their ring and pinion fit samurai diffs?

Some websites specs say 4.3 in manuals and 4.09 in autos
but some others say 3.9 in manual and 4.09 in auto

Cheers
