Default Gears engage only when in 4WD - Sierra

My 1985 Suzuki (re-badged in Australia as a Holden Drover) has been slow to re-engage in non-4WD after leaving the beach lately and yesterday it failed completely - now I have to drive it in 4WD only.

I usually have to start moving slowly in 4WD and then release the 4WD gearshift. Now that has failed and it just stays in neutral.
Can anyone help with a little advice before I take it to the garage? Thanks.

Default Here's the answer!

Well, I can answer my own question now: Just push the 4WD lever to the side as you push it forward out of gear - that engages the normal gears.
