Default Instrument Cluster

I have the 88 Sami with the standard cluster (no tach). Can i buy a used cluster with the tach and simply plug it in or are there other issues to think about?

Thanks in advance.

I've changed out a couple of the newer 88.5 up clusters and they were just plug and play.

If u have the round holes in your dash...u will need to install a tach cluster from a dash with round holes. The change was mid 88. Thus some r identified as 88.5 these have square holes in the dash...the tacks, in my experience are NOT interchangeable. So to be sure u have the right tach cluster try to see the Sami it was donated by. Don't ask me how I kno. (Beware the driveway warrantee !!)
Installing is simple...remove and replace...drop the steering wheel to clear the emergency indicator switch. Take out the holding screws...beware the ones on the top of the dash.
It is unplug and replug...simple enough. The circuits are all there.
If u have any bulbs out in the cluster...change them while facia is out.
Good luck & enjoy.
