Default CV Joints

Just installed a 2" coil lift on my 1989 Sidekick. Went on a day long desert run yesterday. After about a couple hours, started to hear a rubbing noise from the front. I was in 4wd. The noise would only last a second or 2 and only heard it about 5 times during the day. I need to replace my CV boots but after looking found that rebuilt shafts are not that much more money. I am afraid that if I replace just the boots, my CV joints might be bad too. The shafts have no play in them. I have not heard the noise while in 2wd. Not sure if the noise is from the joints, bearings, or hubs. But have only heard the noise while in 4wd. That's why I am leaning toward the CV joints. Any suggestions? Thanks, John
