Default 83 SJ410 Open Diffs?

Hay I am building an 83 sj410 and am wondering if the rear diff is open stock, I was tearing apart the axles and once I got down to the diff it seamed more enclosed then I expected for an open diff with spiders, is this ordinary or could there already be a locker in it?

Thanks

Standard '4 pin' carrier. Stronger than the later '2 pin' carrier, but open from the factory. You can put a lockrite inside of it to make it an automatic locker.

This article will give you a look into one of these suckers.

Thats cool, but I am wanting a 100% full time locker, any idea if I could find a spool for it or how hard it would be to weld the spiders?

Also can I get at the spiders with out having to mess around with the adjusters on the sides allot? I am just worried about having to set them.
