Hi all! New to the forums but have had my 88 samurai for almost 3 years now. However, i bought a new soft top to replace the old one that was falling apart and realized that there was nothing to attach the top to the frame at the rear of the door. I searched and found this area is called the targa? Please correct me if I'm wrong! Is this the part i need? PetroWorks. If so, are they the same for each side? Also how does the top attach to this as there is nothing visible on the top that seems like it would be able to hook or snap in? ALSO is my model supposed to have A/C? Everyone asks me that! sorry for the noob question! thanks in advance!
The soft top attaches to the rail and the two snaps at the corners above the windshield. It is then held in place by the door rails (rails above the doors). Then the rails you found at Petroworks (behind the targa). Then it attaches to the rear hoop and to the snaps around the rear tub and on the tailgate. It also uses a pair of straps at the rear corners.
WhootWhoot.....I had to buy the same items for my ZUK. The rails are the same on both sides and the top has a bead that slides down behind the rails.
There is no physical attachment to the rails. Hope this helps.
OKAY good to hear. Its just weird because the top itself doesn't have anything to attach to the rails. Oh well, I guess ill see when I get them in! I rigged the top with some heavy duty velcro and the heat is starting to melt the adhesive! HAHA! THANKS FOR THE HELP EVERYONE!
