What engine should I use?

I am building an 83 SJ410 into a daily driver/bush rig, I am currently trying to decide what type of engine I should go with. I am planning on changing the tranny as well since I don't know what its from and what abuse it has had.

I am thinking of a 60 Degree v6 engine, Dose any body have any idea if this could be ran on stock SJ410 axles and drive shafts with 31" tires and a rear locker.

If not what engine and tranny would you recommend.

Thanks.

The stock 410 diffs and axles aren't as strong as the Sammy stuff, a 1.6 conversion is as big as I would go. You might consider fabbing new mounts to take Sammy or Toyota axles.

Ya I was considering that but I want to keep the stock width and don't want to have to look for a bunch of rare parts, and a Toyota axle would look big on a sj410.
