i have a devorced transfercase out of a samuri. i dont know what year. i am curiouse if how stout it is. would it be tough enough to put behind a chevy 350 and a 4 speed transmission? please help
Although I have heard war stories about the Sammy t-case taking major abuse in an overpowered situation like this, I would not bet the farm on it. That is not something I would put together to run trails at any distance away from help (and a good tow strap).
if you do attempt it, you better make sure you run a reinforcing spine around it and put it in a bucket or cradle. People have grenaded those T-cases with a lot less than a 350.
Yea ive heard hear say bout them bein pretty stout. just from people that dont know to much talken. ive been usen an np203 ot three married transfercase but it wont hold a gear in a bind. id like to find a decent devorced that could handle some abuse and last a while. i would like 2 find a devorced np205 but those thangs are like gold around here. any other suggestions?
Some friends of mine designed these to go back and forth from the sand dunes to the rock trails... 3 speeds allow for high, low and lower. They took a bite out of Atlas when they first released them. You can see more models and specs here: STaK
