Default reverse clunk

okay so i want to tear into my samurai tomoro but i need a starting place, when i put any torque on it going in reverse it moves fine but it clunks rather loud repeatedly and i can feel it in the seat, when coasting its quiet and fine, its not in the axel so im thinking transfer case or tranny, any ideas on what it could be?

Default Rear mount

Have a look at the rear transfer box mount. Had this problem on mine and it turned out that the metal plates that sandwich the rubber mount were no longer bonded to the rubber part.

Try pushing up near each mount....
