Default Tranny swap

My 88 Sammi has developed a bad syncro in 1st.
Have located a 4 speed tranny & T/C with e brake attached.
Good deal on this lump.
Will it bolt up to my 1.3 (88) ?
I realize it is out of an older Suzuki.
It sounds really good and shifts like a dream.
He says I can have the engine too, but it seems different and is smaller.
Would it be better to transplant both at the same time.
Haven't located an 88 tranny to transplant yet.
The donor vehicle has been very much damaged and cannot be driven on the road or insured anymore.

if your 1.3 is a good one, i would leave it, if its got low compression i would drop in the whole sj410 drivetrain, yes it bolts in.

I would opt for finding a 1.6 engine and transmission to drop in over the 1.0 engine and transmission. The 1 liter SJ had less power (45hp vs 65hp) If you don't mind the reduction in power on the already underpowered vehicle then by all means... I don't know if the 410 tranny bolts directly to the 413 engine but chances are pretty good it does. A lot of the modified 413's can't use their stock 5th gear, so the taller 4th gear on the 410 would probably be nice to have if you have larger tires. I would probably stay away from the 1.0 engine though.

1.0 won't bolt to the 1.3 tranny. The engine mounts are different too so you'd have to cut and shut at least one. I'm pretty sure that fourth on the 410 is the same as 4th on the Sammy. The 410 tcase is lower geared and the axle ratios will be all wrong too.
The 1.6 is a much easier swap and lots more torque too.

Default tranny swap

Thanx fellas !

Will wait to find an 88 tranny and let the sj410 go to some one else who is interested in building it into something.

All your input has helped me make this decision.

Good to know there are so many with details we all need.

Greasy side down !!

for $300 bucks you can make your tranny fresh again, all 5 syncros, all needle bearing, all roller bearing, seals.
