Default AC questions

I had the AC recharged in my '87 tintop which has a 1.6 16v swap that has the R134 conversion done. The AC is blowing at 52 degrees at the vents. I would like to get it blowing colder but the AC shop said that was all I would get out of it.
Two things I noticed :
1. the ac condensor is very dirty. I tried to take the plastic case apart but the bottom half of the plastic shell doesn't want to come apart and I don't want to break it. I was able to reach inside with a small vaccum extension to clean a little bit of it but it could really use some compressed air on the other side and alot more cleaning.
How do I get to the condensor to clean it ??

2. the ac pipes under the hood are not insulated or covered with anything on my Samurai. On my Trailblazer SS the ac pipes are all covered with a dense foam like insulation.
Should I get some hose or insulation of some sort to cover these 'cold' ac pipes to try to keep from losing some of the 'cool' in the engine bay ??

is 52 degrees too warm for you? really? Most cars can only blow about 20 degrees below ambient air temperature. Seems like you're blowing a little colder, maybe 25 degrees below. Maybe if it was blowing that 52 degrees at a larger volume you would be cooler. How's your airflow out the vents? If it's not blowing strong you might have debris blocking the blower intake or your squirrel cage motor is getting tired.

The Suction Line On Top Of The Engine Does Need To Be Covered. Mainly To Keep It From Dripping All Over The Engine.make Sure The Outside Condensor Is Not Clogged Up.i Get About 38 To 40 Degrees On A 80-85 Degree Day.above That All I Get Is Around 50.

clean out the blower box... it may be cold air but I bet it's not blowing out as hard as it should. this will also help with heat in the winter...

Default 87 Tintop AC Relays

There are 2 relays for the AC. One controls the condenser fan motor, and is located in the package tray area. The other relay controls the compressor, Can somebody help point out the way to find it? Thanks!

Default AC Amplifier

Does anybody know where I might find a schematic for the AC Amplifier in my 1987 Tintop. The Denso p/n is 077200-0341.

The A/C service manual that is on Ack's page is for later models (1994 I believe) and has a different amplifier p/n listed (077200-1230).

Default AC Amplifier

From what I've been able to tell so far, the amp is changing the idle setting when I turn ON the ac switch. The amp may also monitor the high-low press switch as a protective function, and toggles the 12v relays for the compressor and the condenser fan.

I'm not certain that the 1987 ac kit had a compressor relay, and hope to be able to "ring" out an answer tomorrow.

If the ac amp is the defective, I've been giving some though to eliminating it and instead using the a/c switch power to engage 2 relays. one for condenser fan and the other for the compressor. I do give up some protective functions but if that is something that is CRUCIAL, I could put some kind of safety to monitor the pressure switches.

I don't know jack about ac systems, are there any issues I could be missing?

One more question.....could a high or low port pressure cause a newly rebuilt compressor to not function (ie....when 12vdc applied directly to the compressor, the clutch does not engage) AND (no "click" sounds when 12vdc is applied to compressor when engine is off).
