Default swapin to 1.6? do i need 1.3 computer?

ok everyone keeps tellin me to leave all the wiring in the truck then put the 1.6 motor in... and that i need to tap into some old ones...is this true or can i take out the old ecm and the wiring harness connected to it or do i need to keep the computer and harness in the truck? swapin to 1.6 8V

If you're swaping the 1.6 16valve in with MPEFI then you need the donor harness from the vehicle you got the engine from and it needs to be converted. If you are swaping the 8 valve 1.6L and using the samurai stock carburetor then you need the samurai ECU. If you are swaping in the 1.8L and usning an aftermarket carb like the webber or a CV carb, then you don't need the ECU for engine management.

im swapping from the 1.3l to a 1.6L 8 Valve and i am going FUEL INJECTION.

If you're fitting the 1.6 engine with all its bits then use the 1.6 computer, the mapping is a little different between the two. The 1.6 will run OK on the 1.3 computer but won't be optimized.

and if your 1.3 wasn't fuel injected then it definitely won't work.
