Default cork oil pan gasket question

I'm about to reinstall the oil pan with the new gasket but the gasket I got is cork on one side, and the other side is some sort of fiber. Does it matter which surface goes on the pan? I'll also be putting a thin layer of RTV on, but didn't know which way this should go on. I've never seen a gasket like this before.
Thanks

I have never seen one like that either, but it sounds like someone took a good idea a step further...
I would RTV the cork side and stick it to the pan, then use white grease on the fiber side to go up against the block. This would allow easy removal without trashing the gasket every time you pull it off.
Just verify which way the gasket fits. The cork should be the side used with rtv.

Did it the way you suggested and it's done. I ran it back in and had it reinspected also for the bad light ground the other day. I'm good to go, thanks!
