Default 87 sami will not stay running help!

so i just got a new fuel pump put in so now i finally got it to run, but now it will run for about 2 minutes and lose power and cut off. i still have not driven it yet. as soon as it starts it runs a really high high idle even with the idle screw basically almost completely out then after a minute it just dies. start again does the same what could it be? help please

have you tried running it with the fuel cap off? It sounds something is causing the engine to starve out... Could be the vapor and return lines got mixed up and you're drawing a vacuum on the tank that the pump can't overcome.

hi i got 87 when i had trouble on old carby i tide the choke back and had no more trouble

yes the fuel cap is off. i just cant figure out why its straving out and y it runs a really high idle

drove it around the yard to make sure the tranny worked, had to fight it from dying on me every 5 seconds, put it back up and now when u start it it runs so high its about to blow itself up, came home today and now there is oil all under it what could it be and what could of made it lose oil?

Check to see if the new fuel pump is leaking oil out of the beed off tube. It could be bad. Most oil leaks come from cam seals, crank seals, distributor housing O ring, valve cover gasket, oil filter seal or from oil pressure sending unit.
