Default high idle

I'm thinking of getting an 88 samurai but was told by the current owner that it just started to idle high (3000-4000). he adjusted it down as far as it could go but no luck. he thinks it needs a rebuild. Since it has 33'' i was thinking the weber 2 barrel and be done with it. however I don't want to get it and the carb if there could be a considerable larger prob. Any suggestions to look at when I look at the vehicle??

I'm sure you've all answered these idle problems many times over so thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!

Default very high idle

3000 to 4000 idle speed is EXTREEMLY high. The only thing I could think of that could cause this is stuck linkage or throttle cable. or maybe broken throttle plate.
good luck

Default missing spring

Hi,
I have a 93 and it had the same problem. Turned out there was a spring missing on a linkage behind the carb below the throttle cable. We replaced it with a ball point pen spring and the problem went away.

Hope this helps.
