Default Fuel tanks swap

Hey guys I am in the middle of a 1.6 engine swap and I need to know what year they started putting the fuel pumps in the tanks. Mine is a 89 with a mech pump so I will have to put an in line pump in. It just seems another tank might be the way to go so I do not have to listen to the pump all the time under the hood.

Thanks,

Joey

The high pressure tank pumps replaced the head mounted mechanicals when they went to EFI in 1990. If you use an external hp pump, then mount it as close to the tank as possible. Most are 'pusher' style and work better back there. I used the crossmember just ahead of the tank to mount the last one I did. It is the same crossmember the rear shocks attach to.

I did this swap and just installed the pump on the frame at the height of the hump on the frame above the rear wheels. I fabbed up a little shield to protect it and it works like a charm. I really use and abuse my 'zuki everyday and no problems.........so far!
