Default 1985 Suzuki Samurai Stuck in gear

my 1985 suzuki samurai keeps getting stuck in gear. I've taken the shifter out and put it in neutral, then put the shifter back in place and tried to shift and the same problem keeps occuring. What could be causing this to be happening?

replace the wee plastic ball on the end of the shifter that rides in the slots in the selector arms in the gearbox

the americans call it a "shifter sheet" for reasons known only to themselves, it is usually a transfer case issue, but the main gearbox suffers from the same issue, worn bolts and the bushing the selector lever rides in as well.
