Default no power to lights or ignition

I have a 1990 model samurai 1.3L fuel injected. Bought it from a guy that was going to do the tracker motor swap and started disconnecting things but didn't remove engine . The eco was removed so i installed a new one. The truck has the clickity click relay, gm style alternator. I re hooked all the wires that i knew to do. I have a positive going from battery straight to starter and ground from battery to starter/block. Engine block is grounded to frame and firewall to frame. I added these grounds as i saw nothing grounding the motor or body. If i stick a test light to the negative on the battery and touch it to the motor itself the test light illuminates. Same deal if i touch any ground bolt on the firewall with the hot end of test light. Im sure this is something simple but I can't seem to figure out what the heck i have hooked up wrong!? the sammy was run ning when he parked it and been sitting fort about 2 years he says . If i turn the key over i have no power at all, no lights or wipers or starter anything. Ive got to be missing a hot powering the wiring harness and fuse block but looks like e everything is connected . HELP???

Run a hot from the battery to the main post on the back of the GM alternator. And make sure the plug in the side is connected. One wire goes to the back post (same place you connected the battery), yhe other to the stock wiring harness.

Check the fuseable link off the battery. I replaced the factory one with an in line replaceable 40 amp fuse. Mine had a similar situation.
