Default Timing covers

Hi folks. (I'm back) asking for help on an issue I'm having. Replacement timing covers. E-Bay and Amazon. You get what you pay for! Good brand names or cheap after market. 15.00 -50.00 dollars. My problem is the fit. 1987 zuki Sammy JX 1.3 liter. Most say 16v (valve) . some say 8v. Of course you shouldn't go by pictures. My manual says if the rotor goes clockwise it's an 8v motor, counter clockwise a 16v motor. My motor goes CW = 8v. Most the picts show the covers that look like mine a 16v. The one that says is 8v looks different. ( an inspection hole half way down on the right.) That mine does not have! My main question is. IS there a difference? And what is it? I want to get the right one the first time. Thanks for your time. Don.

Can we assume by "timing cover" you mean the outer timing belt cover?

If we also assume the motor in your 87 Samurai is original then it's an 8v, Suzuki Samurais didn't have 16v 1.3s in 1987 - the part number is 11390-82000 and there is no inspection hole on either the 8v or 16v timing covers.

Next - the covers I'm seeing on Amazon run around $55 each and are of unknown quality - do yourself a favor and take a look at what Low Range Off Road has for $33...
