Default SJ410 (Santana) Headlights and Switch

Hi All,

I'm trying to sort the wiring out on a 1990 spanish SJ410. The light switch seems a bit odd so hoping someone can confirm how it functions and whether this is correct:

rotate stalk position 1= sidelights only
rotate stalk position 2= sidelights and dipped headlight

I can flash the main beam by pulling the stalk - this only flashes the main beams when the stalk is in the "off" and position 1. It does not flash in position 2.

Pulling the stalk to flash - the stalk springs straight back - there seems to be no way to keep the main beams on without holding the stalk in that position.

Can anyone confirm whether this is normal?

Much appreciated!

Thanks

Do you not push the lever forward for high beam.

I don't know - the original switch was missing. I bought another one (ebay) which flashes when you pull but does not do anything when pushed.

Mine was a Jap built SJ413 so may be different. Forward was high beam, middle was low beam and back was flash. Could you add a link to the one you purchased.

Mine is the same as the SJ413. Mine 86 JX samurai . Twist to turn on, Stage 1- marker lights. Stage 2-all lights. Push-away-lock, HIGH BEAM. Middle-lock, LOW BEAM. Pull-flash-HIGH BEAM-springs back to - LOW BEAM, normal position.
