Default License & Registration in US

I can't find anything downright specific but it seems the following is true:
- If you buy a previously imported Samuari/Jimny and have a Title from a US State for that vehicle you can register it and drive it on US highways in all 50 states.

Is the above correct?

I'm particularly interested in registering one of these vehicles in North Carolina.

(Vehicle is over 25 years old.)

TIA

You should be good as long as it has a clear title, but I would check with your local DMV just to be sure. I just imported and registered my Japanese jimny.

They are all pretty much the same.

Tell me about it, it took me a year to register my jimny. They said I was missing paper work to register it, so I spent months and months contacting people in japan trying to find the paper work then gave up on it for a while. Out of pure defiance I went back to the DMV (with the same paperwork I had previously, no more no less) acted a little more demanding and got it registered within 2 days.
