Default Value for local Samurai

So I've kinda been lusting for a Samurai ever since I found out how cool they are and fell in love with the Sidekicks my girlfriend has had since last year. I found one locally that is as unmolested (stock) as I've ever seen. Also very clean.

It's an '87 soft top, got 113k miles, he said the engine was rebuilt at 85k. New tires (highway), steering stabilizer, and shocks. REALLY clean underneath, factory undercoated, no rust that I could see anywhere. Ran great once it warmed up, revved good, had good power (for the 1.3), ect. He has a half cab top for it and it's got a factory grille guard on it. The hood has some large hail dents, not uncommon for around here.

He's asking $3600 for it, I think it's about in the ball park. He wants to sell it and get a Jeep.

What are some common issues with these or things to watch out for? Am I way off as to pricing? I mainly care about rust and major problems, which it had neither. I'd like something to drive, not work on.

Well, apparently it was a good value. I was lucky and jumped on it; there were about 5 other people with cash in hand ready to buy it sight unseen if I didn't end up getting it.

Congratulations! That is quite a good deal. Here in CA, sammys prices are going up and up. A decently shaped one here goes for ~4Kish now.

I always personally thought that Sidekicks were dorky looking
