Default Problems with starting up Suzuki samurai

Hi, I am really new to Suzuki samurais or just engines in general and also new to these forums but I am in dire need of help lol.

have a USA spec 1986 Suzuki Samurai, a rebuilt 1.3 L with 8V, 5 speed manual and 4WD with about 14K miles on the rebuild. first initial oil changes on rebuild then 5K oil changes, no check engine light. I am from California. My questions is...

My samurai was starting up with no problems and had a clean start. It started pouring down rain and it started up fine but then eventually bogged down and died. I got it to continue to start but as I was driving the engine just bogged down and died again. Then now when I try to start it up, it does not start. It cranks up fine but it just won't fire anymore. I replaced the fuel filter and also installed a brand new fuseable link, but like I said I did not have any issues until it started to pour down rain. Any suggestions on what I need to check first or what I can do?

Go check the basics for a crank, no start
Many videos on crank, no start on youtube

Basics are Fuel, Air, Spark, Timing, Exhaust, Compression
Find the issue and it should lead you to the fix

Good luck

Check for spark from the coil.

How long would it run before dying? Where you pumping the gas much?

Fuel
Compression
Spark

Make sure you have those three first. If those are good (fuel also means that you are getting fuel into the carb, so a clear filter but bad fuel pump would not keep her running) you can dig into the weeds deeper.
