Exclamation flat spot when accelerating, when get into 5 gear car slows so 5 gear is useless, why

Suzuki Sierra 1.3jx 1990
Hi people, i had problems with my carby not idling, or idling to fast, i downloaded the manual and rehooked the vacume hoses up and still a problem.
I decided to replace the carby and is works but with a flat spot and not quite as much power as it should have, also when i wind out through the gears i have to rev out heaps for the power to change the gears, but when i get into 5th gear it looses all power and starts to slow down.
it has 5th gear for a reason the motor is only a 1.3 but 5th gear should still work.
please help, any ideas would be appreciated!!!!!
