Default Floor treatment

I've got the entire interior out of my '86 Samuari and want to put something over the floor to deaden sound and keep heat/cold out. I want somethink light weight and inexpensive.
What have others used?
I thought maybe I should just build some templates of the areas I want to cover, visiting an upholstery shop, buying the 1/2 inch thick juke then throwing some indoor/outdoor carpet over that.
Doesn't need to be too fancy, my intended use is to go up into the mountains with my wife and the dogs.

Default Great Idea!

Sounds like a great idea so far. I can't recommend any specific materials, but I just thought I would add that I definitely like the idea. Actually, if you got the template made, it would be great to see some sketches and dimensions on it as I might actually try to do that myself. The reason I posted about the hardtop attachment (thread before this one) is because I too hate how loud road noise, etc. is in the Samurai and thicker carpet than stock would probably serve that purpose great.

Mine is actually "Rhinolined" (off brand, not nearly as good) but it still doesn't do the job too well. And the thin factory carpet just doesn't cut it.

Thanks for inspiring my new project!

Default

you could always use generic truck bed liner (rhino liner) as the first layer. or dyno matt - it is something people use as sound deadener for audio speakers

good luck
