Default Temp problem

Hi guys. New here and just looking for some advice. I have a 2002 jimny. The temp gauge never moves much off the bottom while driving. It will climb over quarter way while sitting idle with the engine running but will go back down when you start driving.

Any ideas what would be causing this?

Thanks in advance.
Sean

Purchase one and replace it. No thermostat meant the rad would constantly be cooling the liquid and the engine may not be reaching correct operating temp. Replacing may give you better gas mileage. Just when replacing keep an eye on temps. Who knows why the previous owner removed it.

It stays low while driving because of the excess air passing over the radiator and helping cool the already cool liquid.

Raises at idle for the opposite reason as above.
