I have a few electrical issues and I don't know where to start.
The check engine light doesn't turn on when I have the key on.
The other issue is the turn signal fuse keeps blowing whenever I turn the key on. I have disconnected each front turn signal one at a time to rule out if that was the issue. The hazard lights work so I know it's not the bulb even though the hazard lights are on a different circuit.
Like I said I don't know a lot and would appreciate any ideas.
Did you check the rear turn lamps?
Usually, this problem is related to a loose or broken ground or a poorly rewired aftermarket bumper.
Go to Ack's FAQ
and do a search for diagram
. Among the results you will find two color versions of the 1988 Samurai diagram created by Cory "Dice" Daniels. Take a look at the first one listed. It is the unmodified version. The other version contains mods that might be of interest to you later in your Samurai adventure.
Use the color coding to make sure the wiring has not been tampered with by the previous owner and that the ground wires at each fixture are properly grounded to the body or frame.
