You can do an "eye-ball" assessment if you want - it's your engine - but - if you can detect wear and "out of roundness" with the naked eye, then you don't need my advice, and you probably wouldn't be asking what size hone to use.
You have to know your limitations, I can only guess, based on the questions you ask.
FWIW - the last G13 I pulled down had no wear ridge at the top of the bores and even had factory knurling visible on the pistons - when miked it was within acceptable tolerance, but just barely, the machine shop suggested honing & new rings, but when honed, it was outside the limit - I bored it oversize.
Bottom line - it's YOUR engine.
