Default car signals flicker when off

I have suddenly an electrical problem in my suzuki jimmy 2007.

I have been out of town and lent the car to a neighbor, I noticed when I got it back yesterday that the front seat was wet and so I thought perhaps she had forgotten to close a window and it got a drizzle inside. No harm done, but wait.....

Unfortunately, tonight I noticed that the four way lights flickering on and off incessantly. I thought it might be the indicator lever just in a weird position but it seemed fine. I decided to disconnect the battery and wait and try it out in the morning.

Any ideas?

Updates to come.

My guess would be the 4 way flasher is pushed to the on position, then left on for an extended time, frying the flasher.

Make sure the flasher switch isn't in the on position, my guess is this probably what happened to it.

what is the most common practice, when either flasher go's bad, it is replaced with the one from the other system, with promises of replacing the bad one at a later date.
