Default Why is this forum slow?

When I do anything on this forum it is very slow for the page to load. Like it's bringing in a lot of data. It takes about 10 seconds for a page to load. Is there a reason for this? Do paid members get faster page loads due to less advertising?

No, I happens to me at home or work and on different computers. Do you have less ads that load since you are a premium member?

Yes premium members see less ads, but the site should be fast even for free users. I have all the ads on and the pages load quickly for me. Who is your IP and what kind of connection are you on?

Wideopenwest is the home cable provider. Work is a typical corporate connection.

Just so that you are aware - Keith's not the only person who finds this particular forum slow.

I'm down in South America, at the end of a few thousand miles of submarine fibre (which is broken right now, so we're on a backup satellite link that makes life difficult) but even when we do have the usual fibre, this forum is noticeably slower than many others that I frequent.

So - yes, my connection could be faster, but after taking that into consideration, I find this forum slower in comparison to other similar forums, and inexplicably so, since there is no graphics or flash that would/should cause it to be so.

I'm on a half dozen other forums forums and this one is particularly annoyingly slow... like said above, around 10 seconds per page, most other websites load normally while this one is snail slow, it's like it's loading the whole thing then shows it... I find myself not coming here very often because of this and I can't imagine myself being alone with that thought.

I use Clear wireless (4G), this particular computer doesn't get a great signal but the others I've used have the same loading time. I don't usually complain about this kind of thing but wow. I'm using the latest Firefox with no bells and whistles, latest flash and so forth (just installed this morning). I think I've gone on at work too and found it slow, it's not a fast connection there either but other pages load normally. I wouldn't mind it if some text showed up to keep me occupied but all I get is the top and left frame and the "upgrade to premium" thing on the bottom and a big grey empty box where the posts would be, kinda boring.

almost 4 solid months and no reply? This forum is still by far the slowest that I frequent, and I find myself not frequenting it as much because of it's speed...

its got to be your hso or computer.. you might have more cookies stored with the other sights... but this site is as fast as any other ive been to if not faster... but the setup is a little different so that might be a small factor you might want to take into consideration the location of the server and how many there are and how close you are to the server

It seems to perform at a normal (or better) web-site speed for me.
