Default Malfunction Lamp

A Few Months ago the Malfunction Lamp On my lacetti 05 model turned on while driving my car. Took car to the servicing department but after a few days the Malfunction lamp turned on again. Took again my car to the servicing department and when I went to collect my car they said they they installed a new program. They said that with this new program the malfunction lamp would only turn on if there was a problem. Therefore now the Malfunction Idicator Lamp Does Not Illuminate Briefly When I Turn The Ignition On, before I start the engine. According to the manual the indicator bulb has to illuminate briefly before starting the engine. I am very worried as I do not know if this malfunction indicator lamp has either been disconnected or tampered with. Therefore if my car has a problem I do not know if the malfunction indicator lamp will go on. Awaiting your opinions.
